Setting Up Your Capability Profile
Your Capability Profile is what the scorer matches every opportunity against. Better profile, better scores, better feed.
The short answer
Your Capability Profile is the single input that most controls the quality of your feed. Every save re-embeds your profile and re-scores your opportunity list. Write it like you are explaining your company to a sharp new BD hire — what you do, where you've done it, what makes you the right pick, and what you refuse to bid.
What to put in it
- What you do — services, products, technical domains, mission areas you actually deliver.
- Past-performance themes — the kinds of contracts and customers you've executed against, at what scale.
- Differentiators — clearances, certifications, tooling, credentials, geographic reach, small-business status.
- Dealbreakers and bid preferences — contract types you skip, ceilings below which you don't chase, geographies you avoid, set-asides you require.
What happens on save
Saving the profile re-embeds it and kicks a rescore of your opportunity list. You do not need to rerun anything by hand. If a bid slid from a 62 to an 81 after you sharpened the profile, that is the pipeline working correctly.
Common mistakes
- Copy-pasting your website About page. It reads well and scores badly. Be concrete.
- Leaving dealbreakers empty. Telling the scorer what you won't chase is as valuable as telling it what you will.
- Never revisiting it. Update the profile after every major award or new capability — the feed will follow.
